GE HealthCare has unveiled its Genesis portfolio, a suite of cloud-based enterprise imaging solutions designed to enhance coordination in patient care, cut operational costs, and maintain high security standards for healthcare organisations.
This portfolio allows healthcare providers to efficiently store, access, and manage large amounts of medical images from any location at any time.
According to GE HealthCare, the initiative is part of its broader strategy to significantly increase its range of cloud-enabled products by 2028.
The company aims to drive recurring revenue through cloud adoption and software-as-a-service (SaaS) models to position itself as a leader in the digital transformation of the healthcare sector.
The new cloud-based enterprise imaging solutions are designed to streamline hospital workflows, aiding radiologists and caregivers in delivering timely and precise patient care.
The Genesis suite facilitates interoperability by providing centralised storage and access to patient data, improving user experiences for both IT and clinical teams. By adopting cloud and hybrid deployment models, GE HealthCare seeks to reduce infrastructure investments and operational costs while accelerating the adoption of technological innovations.
The solutions also focus on maintaining high levels of security for sensitive healthcare data.
GE HealthCare enterprise imaging solutions CEO Scott Miller said: “We are committed to delivering enterprise imaging solutions with our cloud-first strategy. Clinicians and caregivers want the latest tools to most effectively do their jobs, but organisations often lack the financial and IT resources required to access and implement them.
“With the launch of the Genesis portfolio, we will be providing cloud-enabled solutions that can help transform patient care through accessible, sharable, and secure imaging data while simultaneously improving clinical and operational efficiencies.”
The Genesis solutions include several main components, of which Edge computing acts as a secure bi-directional pathway to the cloud, enabling hybrid solutions that combine cloud benefits with existing hardware investments.
Another feature, Storage solutions aim to free up organisational resources for higher-value IT projects by providing an easy transition to cloud-hosted enterprise imaging solutions such as Genesis VNA.
The Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) offers a fully managed SaaS archive solution that efficiently integrates and manages patient data, allowing for seamless access through image-enabled electronic health records (EHRs).
Data Migration capabilities, developed in collaboration with Enlitic, facilitate large-scale AI-enabled migrations using high-quality imaging data crucial for next-generation healthcare solutions.
All elements of the Genesis portfolio will be deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS), GE HealthCare’s global cloud provider.
