Primo, a European leader in the field of advanced technical extruded profiles and tubes, has recently entered the medical and dental tubing market through the acquisition of Totax Plastics.
Primo offers a comprehensive range of medical tubing in accordance with specified customers' requirements. The medical, dental and food sectors are among the industries Primo serves. These sectors place high demands on the handling of products during production and on the quality of the technology during its use, both of which are prime considerations throughout product development and production.
The handling of the products is carried out by specially trained employees in Primo's clean-room facilities in Poland. The right properties are secured through cooperation with customers and suppliers, with innovative solutions used in the design and choice of materials.
As a manufacturer and subcontractor of medical tubes and profiles, Primo has a certified quality assurance system, which complies with the requirements of ISO 13485:2003 and specific customer demands.
Primo acquired Totax Plastics in September 2010. Dedicated to the medical and dental sector, the whole operation has been moved to Primo's existing premises in Zory in southern Poland, near the Slovakian and Czech borders.
Primo is recognised as a European leader in the field of technically advanced extruded profiles and tubes. Through the acquisition of Totax, Primo has entered the arena of tube extrusion for the medical and dental segment.
The company has built up a new production department featuring an ISO class 8 clean-room facility, with the possibility of upgrading to class 7. Medical extrusion is a strong part of Primo's activity and further focus on its development is a strategic objective.
Primo specialises in the customised extrusion of different types of thermoplastics. Its experience and innovation make the company a competent partner in product development, and prototype production as well as in actual production.
Primo's expertise helps to create realistic solutions in cooperation with the customer through efficient and flexible production. Flexibility secures the best conditions for the production of prototypes. Furthermore, Primo establishes series productions where experienced employees ensure the high quality of every delivery.
All Primo products are fully documented. Data sheets and approvals of the raw materials, technical data sheets, certificates of compliance and certificates of analysis are available, and can be delivered upon request.
All companies within the Primo Group use the Oracle enterprise resourcing planning (ERP) system for their operations. This extension of computer control and monitoring ensures that all information is updated during production, and raw material batches can be identified. Throughout the production process, relevant parameters are recorded and control measurements are made.
Using extrusion as a production method ensures high flexibility in the length of the product. Furthermore, complex geometry can be achieved as a surplus, which no other production method can offer. Looking at tool expenses, extrusion tools are much cheaper in general; other important advantages include low cycle time and low unit price.
In general, Primo produces tubes with a wall thickness of between 0.1 and 3.5mm. An even cooling and production process is employed to maintain a high quality.
The company uses a variety of materials including PVC, PP, PE, PETG, EVA, PC, TPE, TPU and many others.
Primo behaves as an active partner to its customers, from the product development phase and competitive, quality-minded production process through to smart logistics.
By using its experience and innovative thinking, the company develops creative solutions in cooperation with the customer. This ensures that the result is a product that fully meets the customer's needs and criteria.
