United Imaging has announced the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance of its first interventional X-ray system, the uAngio AVIVA.
The approval marks a significant expansion of the company’s offerings in the US.
According to United Imaging, the system aims to support clinical staff in interventional procedures by incorporating advanced features such as intelligent robotics, voice control, and enhanced imaging capabilities.
The introduction of the uAngio AVIVA brings an innovative voice-control system to the interventional suite, allowing for hands-free image review and movement assistance. This enables clinical staff to concentrate entirely on patient care during procedures.
United Imaging US X-ray portfolio vice president Edgar Alvarez said: “Our goal is to allow the staff’s focus to remain on the patient.
“We hone in on that by giving them an intuitive user experience, streamlined workflows, and fantastic image quality at low dose.”
The robotic system is ceiling-mounted with an 8-axis design, providing extensive flexibility in navigating the complex environment of the interventional suite. This configuration ensures comprehensive coverage of the lab space and facilitates easy access at the tableside, even amidst the presence of other medical equipment.
Additionally, the uAngio AVIVA employs uVERA IQ intelligent imaging technology, utilising United Imaging’s proprietary AI algorithms to produce high-quality images at reduced radiation doses. This technology is particularly beneficial for interventional radiology, neuro interventions, and cardiology procedures, offering imaging insights without compromise.
United Imaging healthcare North America CEO Jeffrey Bundy said: “Our employee’s voices across America trained the system’s voice commands, and our customers gave us the insights we needed to shape this innovative system. It is exciting to continue bringing industry firsts to healthcare.
“And, as with all the technology we offer, we are bringing it to market with All-in Configurations, Software Upgrades for Life, and the other groundbreaking business models we’ve invented to make it simpler and more cost transparent for healthcare providers to purchase.”
