SoundHealth, a medical technology company, has introduced an Android application for its SONU Band, a device that offers therapeutic-grade treatment for rhinitis via sound-based therapy.
The app, designed to function with the SONU Band, utilises artificial intelligence (AI) to convert selfies into CT-accurate skeletal data, assisting in the treatment of nasal congestion and allergy symptoms without the use of medication or sprays.
This application scans a user’s face with a smartphone to generate a digital map of their sinuses and calculate optimal resonant frequencies.
Once this initial scan is complete, users place the SONU Band around their head.
The device then delivers customised frequencies to alleviate symptoms, opening airways naturally for easier breathing within 15 minutes, said the company.
According to SoundHealth, more than 80% of users report improved nasal symptoms after using the device.
SoundHealth founder and CEO Paramesh Gopi said: “We are thrilled to bring the SONU Band to Android users now.
“Our Android app is a first of its kind, and this launch expands access to drug-free relief to millions of people suffering from allergies and sinus issues.”
SONU, which has received the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) De Novo authorisation as an AI-enabled wearable medical device, stands as the sole FDA-approved alternative comparable to leading nasal steroid sprays.
It provides personalised relief via acoustic vibrational energy to reduce inflammation and congestion and enhance mucus drainage.
Last month, SoundHealth announced that the SONU Band received FDA approval for use in children aged 12 years and older, providing a safe alternative to pharmaceutical treatments for paediatric patients. This approval marks the SONU Band as the first FDA-approved drug-free solution for managing nasal congestion caused by both allergic and non-allergic rhinitis in this age group.
