US-based genomics platform company n6 has partnered with sequencing services provider SeqCenter to enhance data quality in metagenomics research.

Under the collaboration, SeqCenter will launch a full-length 16S sequencing service at FEMS Micro, leveraging n6’s iconPCR technology.

It offers significant benefits for researchers and promises superior data quality, reproducibility, and streamlined workflows, making microbiome research more accessible.

The iconPCR technology reduces chimeric sequences and minimises amplification bias, ensuring results accurately reflect the microbial landscape of samples.

SeqCenter’s use of PacBio long-read sequencing provides species- and strain-level taxonomic resolution, surpassing short-read methods.

According to the studies, the iconPCR-prepared libraries retain more high-confidence reads, detect up to ten times more unique amplicon sequence variants (ASVs).

The libraries achieve tighter clustering in diversity analyses and show robust and reliable performance, ensuring consistent and reproducible results.

The collaboration also simplifies workflows, with automated normalisation and pooling allowing researchers to send samples and receive actionable insights, reducing hands-on time and minimising manual errors.

SeqCenter manages the entire process, from sample intake to comprehensive analysis, making advanced microbiome profiling accessible.

Beyond full-length 16S sequencing, the partnership benefits any next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflow prioritising data quality.

Applications include metagenomics, environmental, clinical, and industrial research.
