US-based health technology company Resmed has agreed to acquire VirtuOx, an independent diagnostic testing company, to enhance its virtual care offerings.
VirtuOx provides technology solutions for in-home and remote testing services for sleep, respiratory, cardiac, and other health conditions across the US.
The acquisition would support Resmed’s strategy to expand access to diagnosis and improve the digital experience for patients and providers.
Resmed is focused on sleep, breathing, and home-delivered care, and will leverage VirtuOx’s at-home diagnostic services to support patients earlier in their healthcare journey.
It is expected to simplify care delivery for healthcare providers and homecare companies.
VirtuOx’s virtual testing platform reduces barriers to diagnosis by providing fast, flexible, and affordable options, particularly for sleep disorders and other underdiagnosed conditions.
The digital-first approach is crucial for individuals suspected of having obstructive sleep apnea, as it encourages follow-through on testing and treatment.
Resmed chief product officer Justin Leong said: “By integrating VirtuOx’s diagnostic capabilities into our ecosystem, we can help accelerate the time between evaluation and treatment, reduce drop-off, and help more people access the life-changing benefits of therapy for sleep apnea and related conditions.”
The acquisition enhances Resmed’s ability to partner with healthcare providers to streamline the diagnostic process and alleviate bottlenecks.
It also expands collaboration with home medical equipment providers to support patients efficiently and quickly in starting treatment.
The acquisition would allow Resmed to expand into areas such as insomnia and strengthen relationships with physicians, sleep labs, and home medical equipment providers.
Upon closing of the transaction, VirtuOx will operate as a fully owned subsidiary of Resmed, maintaining its existing brand and leadership team.
