UK-based medical equipment supplier Osteotec has announced an exclusive distribution agreement with icotec to advance spine tumour therapy in Great Britain.
The collaboration aims to expand Osteotec’s spine product offerings and provide physicians with innovative solutions for improved patient outcomes in spine tumour treatment.
Based in Altstätten, Switzerland, icotec specialises in developing non-metallic spinal implants made from BlackArmor Carbon/PEEK material.
The implants are designed for the treatment of spinal tumours and other conditions.
The BlackArmor material offers advantages in radiotherapy by enabling artefact-free CT/MRI images, which support accurate delineation of critical structures and dose planning.
Icotec chief marketing officer Kurt Zoller said: “We are excited to partner with Osteotec, a company renowned for its deep-rooted connections within the spine community and its dedication to improving patient care.
“Through this collaboration, we aim to make our BlackArmor Carbon/PEEK implants more accessible to physicians across Great Britain, empowering them to deliver enhanced treatment options for patients with complex spinal conditions.”
Based in Newbury, UK, Osteotec has been operating since 1993, with offices in Dublin and Malmö.
The company manufactures and distributes products such as the Osteotec Silicone Finger, ChiroKlip, and the Concentric Bone Graft System.
It also serves as a distributor for orthopaedic partners, including Cerapedics, Enovis, Highridge Medical, SI-BONE, and TriMed.
The agreement strengthens Osteotec’s position as a key supplier of spinal solutions in Great Britain, building on its expertise in supporting both NHS and private healthcare providers.
Osteotec sales and marketing director Dean Stockwell said: “This partnership with icotec represents a significant step forward in our commitment to supporting physicians with innovative spinal solutions.
“icotec’s innovative approach to the treatment of spinal oncology aligns with our mission to improve surgical outcomes and patient care.
“By adding icotec’s BlackArmor implants to our growing spine portfolio, we are broadening the range of advanced tools available to physicians, enabling them to address the unique challenges associated with treating spinal tumours and other indications.”
In December last year, Osteotec announced an exclusive agreement to distribute Cerapedics’ clinically proven i-FACTOR bone graft portfolio in the UK and Ireland.
