Olympus has signed a global partnership with health technology company Proximie to offer a new health tech platform for digitising operating rooms (ORs).
Proximie’s cloud-based solution enables real-time sharing of clinical video, audio, and imagery from the OR. Physicians can connect with colleagues and vendor partners worldwide.
This system helps hospitals improve clinical practices and expand teaching opportunities, reaching more learners effectively.
The partnership with UK-based Proximie will help Olympus enhance patient outcomes and clinical practices by connecting physicians, surgeons, clinicians, and students.
Olympus said that telecollaboration is a key part of its medical solutions portfolio and is deemed essential by many healthcare providers and teaching institutions.
The partnership terms differ by region, with a preferred partnership in the US and Canada.
Olympus commercialisation endoscopy solutions ecosystem (ESE) global head and EMEA head Engin Demirel said: “We’re thrilled to join forces with Proximie to provide our customers with a top-tier digital health platform including telecollaboration capabilities.
“This partnership will help break down learning barriers and provide healthcare professionals with access to the knowledge needed to enhance patient care and outcomes. Such collaborations are crucial for the future of digital healthcare.”
Proximie’s device-agnostic platform enables real-time collaboration, secure training session scheduling, and video capture from any source.
Other key features include software that enables access from any browser or mobile device. This allows users to view essential procedure details through up to four high-definition, low-latency video feeds.
The platform facilitates collaboration with tools for annotation, chat, and screen sharing.
It also offers tablet control and the ability to connect multiple video signals, ensuring quick installation in any tower or clinical space.
Additionally, it provides moderation capabilities with comprehensive controls and privacy features.
Furthermore, the platform’s content management capabilities will help transform individual expertise into shareable video content.
Proximie founder and CEO Nadine Hachach-Haram said: “We are delighted to formalise our global partnership with the Olympus Corporation.
“It demonstrates our commitment to widening access to surgical and procedural knowledge, improving global healthcare equity.”
The health technology company, which raised $80m in 2022, focuses on digitising operating and diagnostic rooms.
In January, Proximie partnered with Distalmotion to advance the latter’s Dexter robotic surgery platform globally.
