US-based sleep technology company Eight Sleep has secured $100m in funding to enhance its AI-driven sleep optimisation technology and expand its global presence.
HSG, Valor Equity Partners, Atreides, Founders Fund, Y Combinator, and sports figures like Charles Leclerc and Zak Brown participated in the financing.
Eight Sleep intends to use the investment to support the development of its AI-powered Sleep Agent and enter the medical sector, focusing on menopausal sleep and sleep apnoea.
Eight Sleep co‑founder and CEO Matteo Franceschetti said: “Eight Sleep has developed a turn-key solution for sleep and health optimisation: hardware, software, AI, and consumer goods that dynamically adjust around each person’s needs.
“This new funding enables us to accelerate the deployment of AI for sleep optimisation, expand into medical applications like menopausal sleep and sleep apnea, and bring our technology to millions of people around the world.
“We’re creating digital twins of your sleep physiology to simulate, test, and personalise your recovery before you even close your eyes. This is the next frontier: AI that doesn’t just track you, it understands and adapts to you in real time.”
Eight Sleep has a portfolio of hardware, software, AI, and supplements for effective sleep technology, and a customer base in over thirty countries
The company plans to use the funds to advance its AI roadmap, starting with the development of the Sleep Agent.
Its advanced sleep solution is designed to interpret the biometric data to optimise sleep through real-time adjustments.
The Sleep Agent will enhance the existing Autopilot feature, which already makes nightly adjustments based on user data, by providing proactive interventions.
Eight Sleep aims to enter the medical field by developing AI solutions for sleep issues like menopausal sleep and sleep apnoea.
The company is pursuing the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for certain applications.
In addition to Sleep Agent, it has introduced Hot Flash Mode for menopause relief and plans to develop interventions for sleep apnoea using its Pod’s biometric monitoring capabilities.
Furthermore, Eight Sleep intends to expand its footprint by entering the Chinese market.
