Clarius Mobile Health has partnered with the Savvik Buying Group to provide emergency medical services (EMS) with cost-efficient access to its handheld ultrasound systems.

The collaboration is designed to optimise the purchasing process for EMS professionals, enabling them to acquire Clarius wireless scanners more economically and efficiently.

The Savvik Buying Group is a non-profit organisation dedicated to negotiating group purchasing discounts for US-based agencies and organisations.

It has more than 16,000 members across ambulance services, fire departments, first responder groups, law enforcement, industrial emergency response teams, and other EMS-related entities.

Clarius is the exclusive handheld ultrasound provider with a Savvik contract.

Loving County Ambulance in rural Texas battalion chief Anthony Luk said: “We’re located in a rural area that’s between 30 minutes to two hours from hospitals so using ultrasound to assess our patients before we decide where to take them can be a life-or-death decision.

“It helps us decide if our patient needs to be helicoptered to a level one trauma centre or if we can treat them at the local hospital. Clarius ultrasound has been great for us because it’s wireless and anybody on our team can easily connect to it with their phone or tablet.”

The Clarius PAL HD3 dual-array wireless scanner has been preferred by first responders for its ability to facilitate rapid assessments in critical situations.

The scanner is used to evaluate cardiac activity, detect pneumothorax, assess abdominal pain and vital organs, assist in airway management, and simplify vascular assessments and line placement.

In addition, the scanner supports one-touch live telemedicine, allowing hospital clinicians to provide a second opinion and prepare emergency rooms for incoming patients.

The Clarius PAL HD3 features an advanced wireless dual-array design, combining a phased and linear array on a single head.

Clarius chief commercial officer Tony Titus said: “Ultrasound is an extremely valuable and underutilised tool to help first responders make critical patient decisions.

“Savvik is a trusted organisation, and we’re delighted to be working with them to help enable more first responders to access Clarius’ class-leading technology.”

Recently, Clarius teamed up with neurotechnology company Longeviti Neuro Solutions to enable neurosurgeons with sonolucent cranial implants and wireless ultrasound scanners.
