Cardinal Health has launched Kendall DL Multi System, a new medical device in the US designed to monitor three essential vital signs through a single system.
The Kendall DL Multi System allows continuous tracking of cardiac activity, blood oxygen levels, and temperature with a single connection point, facilitating seamless patient transport from admission to discharge.
The proprietary design of the Kendall DL Multi System utilises clinically proven technology to minimise false “leads off” alarms and motion-related artifacts in electrocardiograms (ECG). These features provide clearer ECG tracings, enabling clinicians to prioritise care effectively.
According to Cardinal Health, the device is intended for single-patient use, reducing the risks associated with reusable lead wires and potential cross-contamination.
Cardinal Health speciality products global vice president Rachel Schott said: “This innovative addition to the Kendall DL portfolio removes complexity for busy care teams, and at the same time, helps enhance clinical performance with multi-parameter monitoring.
“The product streamlines steps that clinicians must follow to provide effective care and controls common lead wire clutter with its built-in cable management system.”
The system is said to align with The Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goal to reduce hospital-acquired infections by implementing evidence-based practices. It also supports the transmission of multi-parameter data to electronic medical records, aiding in time-saving and reducing transcription errors.
The lightweight design includes features such as a patented push-button mechanism for secure electrode attachment and a peelable ribbon cable that fits various patient sizes.
Its single-use nature eliminates the need for cleaning between patient uses, thus decreasing preparation time and enhancing workflow efficiency in clinical settings.
Additionally, the Kendall DL Multi System is compatible with Cardinal Health’s medical device reprocessing programme, further maximising hospital value by streamlining operations and improving patient care outcomes.
Schott said: “By enabling more efficient workflows and driving clinical excellence, this new solution can potentially support the financial performance of healthcare providers.
“Expanding our Kendall DL offerings demonstrates our commitment to providing products designed to address multiple clinical and operational challenges across healthcare organisations, and builds upon our legacy of safe, high-quality patient monitoring solutions providers have come to trust.”
