In November, electronica 2014, the international trade fair for electronic components, systems and applications, returns to Messe München for its 50th anniversary, with this year's show focusing on the automotive, embedded systems and lighting sectors.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, electronica will once again be the industry platform for exchange of information and expertise about electronics, taking place 11-14 November 2014. Visitors to Messe München can get up to speed with the whole product and service portfolios of the electronic industry, from components and systems to electronic applications and services.
This year's international trade fair revolves around automotive, embedded systems and lighting, as well as the overarching themes of security and energy efficiency. The programme of conferences and forums will explore these exhibition topics in greater depth.
In 2012, almost half of the 73,051 visitors and 63% of the 2,669 exhibitors were from abroad. With its three-pillar concept of exhibition, conference and forum programme, this year's electronica will again be providing the latest information about technology, products, services and trends in the industry.
One highlight of the show will be the CEO round table on the first day of the trade fair. Carlo Bozotti, STMicroelectronics; Rich Clemmer, NXP Semiconductors; Gregg Lowe, Freescale Semiconductor; and Dr Reinhard Ploss, Infineon Technologies, will discuss the topic 'The internet of things: possibilities, challenges and the question of security'.
In the exhibition halls, several forums will invite you to engage in dialogue and exchange ideas. The range of topics of the forums - automotive, embedded systems, electronics and the exhibitor forum, as well as the PCB and components marketplace - is application-oriented and allows visitors to learn about current and future issues. These topics will be explored in greater depth within the conference programme of electronica.
The electronica automotive conference will be held on 10 November, the day before electronica 2014. This is where leading executives and experts from the automotive sector meet to exchange ideas and information about topics that play a key role in the transition that is affecting the entire industry. The lectures at this year's conference are divided into three subject areas: lighting, sensor fusion and connectivity.
The conference will begin with keynotes from Dr Wolfgang Huhn from Audi, Jean-Francois Tarabbia of Valeo and Professor Hermann Eul from Intel. Another conference highlight is the closing discussion on the topic 'What effects do massive eastward market shifts have on the European automobile industry's capacity for innovation?'.
The embedded platforms conference will be looking at new technology, concrete approaches to solutions and services for the development of embedded systems. The conference will take place 12-13 November, in parallel with electronica, at the Press Centre East of the Messe München. Topics include the internet of things, smart homes, multicore, system engineering, security, energy management and efficiency, software engineering and API.
Similarly, through examples of best practice, visionary technical lectures and discussion rounds, the conference participants of IT2Industry, which will be taking place on 11 November at the Press Centre East, will find out about the specific consequences, and the opportunities and risks of the increasing digital interconnection in industry and production.
During Wireless Congress 2014: Systems & Applications, being held 12-13 November at the International Congress Centre Munich, industry experts will discuss the technical aspects of present and future wireless technology, with a primary focus on industrial use.
