Ecolab’s New Sporicide Balances Effective Sporicidal Disinfection with User Acceptability

As it is an employer's duty to protect the health, safety and welfare of their employees, the use of disinfectants in cleanrooms can present a significant challenge. This is especially true of sporicidal disinfectants which have a reputation for being aggressive and unpleasant to use.

Ecolab Life Sciences has developed an innovative solution in the form of Klercide Sporicidal Enhanced Peroxide providing the perfect balance between:

  1. Fast broad spectrum (bacteria, yeasts, fungi) along with proactive sporicidal efficacy
  2. Greater safety and user acceptability.

The product's patented formulation works by attacking a microorganism in such a way that its outer wall becomes permeable. This allows a much lower 1.5% concentration of its active ingredient, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), to be equally effective as, and faster acting than, a standard 6% formulation.

The low levels of active ingredient ensure Worker Exposure Limits (WELs) are very unlikely to be exceeded, even when used in large areas, while surfaces and equipment are exposed to less risk of corrosion.

Furthermore, due to its minimal odour, Klercide Sporicidal Enhanced Peroxide has high user acceptance and its unique formulation - which is free from aldehyde, chlorine and peracetic acid - is safer for both users and the environment.

Jocelyn Romanis, Ecolab's European Cleanroom Marketing Manager, said: "We are convinced Klercide Sporicidal Enhanced Peroxide offers a game-changing sporicidal solution to our customers, helping them achieve their environmental goals whilst improving compliance with SOPs through greater user acceptance."
