Roche and Qualcomm collaborate on remote monitoring

3 February 2015

Roche and Qualcomm subsidiary Qualcomm Life, will collaborate to improve remote monitoring and management of chronic disease patients, with the aim of using connected therapy to improve therapy quality, increase convenience, and drive patient engagement in managing their health.

Qualcomm Life's 2net Platform, a secure wireless solution, will be used to capture data from patient medical devices and transmit it to Roche's cloud-based back-end services. This remote monitoring and digital communication between patients and their care teams or clinics could help provide a better service to patients, and reduce therapy complications and the total cost of care.

Jeremy Moss, senior vice-president, point of care at Roche Professional Diagnostics, said: "By combining Qualcomm Life's leadership in powering connected health solutions with our point-of-care expertise, we are taking an important step forward to realise our connected care strategy; ultimately enabling physicians to improve the overall quality of life for patients."
