We are pleased to announce that in May 2015 Selenium Medical received the WorldStar packaging Award for its double-sterile barrier packaging SoTube/SoSafe® in the category 'Medical & Pharmaceutical'.

Organized by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO), the 2015 WorldStar received 266 entries from 38 countries in seven different categories. Packs are evaluated by a jury that rewards those that are considered superior in terms of performance, innovation, product protection, design, ergonomics, use, production, distribution and environmental impact. The eligibility to compete at the WorldStar Awards is conditioned by a prerequisite victory of the packaging to another national or international competition recognized by the jury.

This award joins other awards received in 2014 by Selenium Medical.

SoTube/SoSafe won the Gold Medical Design Excellence Award (MDEA), the AmeriStar Award and Eastpack 'Best of Show' organized by the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP). Both ceremonies were held in New York City in June, in conjunction with the MD&M, Eastpack and Pharmapack shows.

Selenium Medical also won the MEDTEC France Innovation Bronze Award and was invited to the Elysée Palace to meet the President of the French Republic in an interview bringing together innovative start-ups in each region.

"All these amazing medical packaging awards are the recognition of our team and partners hard work since 2010 to develop, validate and produce a new type of sterile packaging for medical implant," said Olivier Richart, president of Selenium Medical. "It's a key milestone for international highlight on SoTube/SoSafe. I am now confident that these international awards will help us to be internationally recognized in the Medtech community worldwide and to establish our technology as a new "gold standard" for implants packaging worldwide beside the pouches and blisters."

The patented packaging SoTube/SoSafe, CE marked and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), offer an innovative solution for aseptic and secure transfer of medical devices in the operating room. Two plastic tubes of a biocompatible material, phthalate or latex free, are nested one inside the other, providing for the first time a 100% No Touch application. A real alternative to the traditional pouches and blisters, this concept of dual tube is less bulky than traditional packaging and provides a unique visibility of the implant thanks to its transparent material.
