Valtronic is a vertically integrated tier one and two supplier for engineering services, contract manufacturing and supply chain management. Valtronic has helped customers develop and manufacture products in active implants, medical products, orthopaedics, aerospace and other markets. Global marketing and communications manager Monica Gasbarre tells Medical Device Developments about the new advancements in these markets.
Monica Gasbarre: There are three main characteristics that set Valtronic apart from other electronics suppliers: our focus and experience in miniaturisation, an agile footprint, and smart money investment.
Microelectronics are fast becoming smaller and more intelligent, with the continued growth of medical and consumer wearables, and the internet of things (IoT) market. Our teams of engineers have the required competencies to take an idea or current prototype and reengineer it for manufacturability, quality, cost efficiency and our number one value: miniaturisation.
We consider our agile footprint something that stands out from the competition. With facilities in Switzerland, the US and Morocco, our footprint is global. Our Moroccan facility offers high quality at offshore prices, production flexibility in low and high volumes, and the ease of product transfer among Valtronic sites. With close proximity to Europe, our offering is endless, and we ensure the best cost solutions are given to our customers.
Finally, our business development effort was launched in late 2014 and has now come full circle, bringing exciting new proprietary projects on board. With smart money investments in young technologies and ventures, we have built up a fully integrated team of scientific, technical and business experts who are focused on building strategic partnerships and bringing projects to the next level of innovation. Our focus is on working with inventors, researchers, start-ups and investment partners on a variety of business development transactions, from research and development to global product development, and engaging in ventures, investments and other such transactions.
Valtronic has been active in the medical market for over 30 years. Our business is focused on active implants, from neurostimulation to glucose monitoring systems, and we are currently venturing into the animal health market. As for medical devices, our experience ranges from drug delivery devices to imaging, and further.
Our engineering consulting service for medical design and development is based in our Swiss location, currently expanding to the US. Our forward-thinking staff anticipate healthcare needs and use their expertise to proactively conceptualise and engineer technologies to meet them.
The part of Valtronic that many people don't know about is the business growth in areas such as aerospace and industrial markets, security and communications, automotive, sensors and system assembly. Valtronic is shifting with the market and joining the trend of IoT to compete for this business. For example, sensors are seeing a lot of attention right now, as they are in almost everything, everywhere. This is a great project for Valtronic due to our miniaturisation expertise and high efficiency. It is an exciting time to open up our sites to new markets and take our experience of miniaturisation down a whole new path.
