EPIC TechWatch on Medical Lasers will be held on 19 November at MEDICA / COMPAMED exhibition in Dusseldorf, Germany. Laser technologies are enabling the development of new tools in the medical sector related to fast diagnosis and process manufacturing.

At the EPIC TechWatch, the latest developments in medical lasers will be presented together with the most exciting applications. Focus for this session will include Microstructuring of medical material to provide it with anti-bacterial properties, new technologies for rapid identification of bacteria and biopsy-free differentiation of tumoral tissue from healthy one. Also, the European capabilities for manufacturing of large-volume optical modules for the medical industry will be discussed.

EPIC Meeting on Photonics for Cancer Diagnostics and Treatment at NKI bring experts and clinicians who will make a comprehensive overview of the existing requirements for cancer diagnostics and treatment with the special emphasis on breast and prostate cancer. The developments focusing on the minimal invasive diagnostic tools as well and interoperative tumor margin assessment such as Hyperspectral and Diffuse reflectance imaging, Raman spectroscopy, OCT fluorescence imaging, etc. will be discussed alongside with novel developments in the fields of the photodynamic therapy and other light-induces treatment solutions.
