As a leading global advanced manufacturing and 3D printing service provider, ARC provides a holistic solution to its customer base and helps them get to market as quickly as possible.
As well as being the world leader in metal injection moulding, ARC is a leading provider of metal and plastic 3D printing, tooling, plastic injection moulding, machining, thixomoulding, glass-to-metal seals, forges, flanges and wireless equipment. ARC also brings significant expertise in lean manufacturing, robotics and automation, which is core to the company's focus on efficiency and quality. ARC was founded in 1987 and has a long history as a technology innovator.
ARC believes the methodologies and systems of how products get manufactured will change materially over the next two decades due to technology such as automation, 3D printing, robotics, software, artificial intelligence and cheaper energy prices. ARC's objective is to be an accelerator of this technology adoption in traditional mass production. The resulting change will be a world in which lead times are reduced, supply chains are localised, and customers get to market in a quicker and more efficient way.
ARC's strategy hinges on two key pillars:
With regard to the first pillar, ARC's metal injection moulding (MIM) business usually makes not only the critical component in its client's product but also one of the most difficult parts. ARC identified an opportunity to build out its product offering off the heels of its MIM business by adding new capabilities and services in metal and plastic fabrication to offer a more holistic product. As a result, ARC offers additional fabricating capabilities to its MIM part programmes that help its customers reduce their supply chain and have a more efficient design/build process.
ARCMIM, a division of ARC Group Worldwide, is a result of combining the pioneers in the MIM industry: Advanced Forming Technology, AFT Hungary, FloMet and Injectamax. Together, they form the world's largest MIM company. With facilities in Colorado and Florida in the US, and Central Europe, the focus of ARCMIM is to provide customers with one source for all their programme needs and, as a result, eliminate the need to coordinate efforts between multiple suppliers.
As a full-service MIM provider, ARCMIM offers its customers the convenience, efficiency, quality and cost advantages inherent with a one-source partner. Through ARC Group Worldwide, ARCMIM provides:
With regard to the second pillar, customers want reduced lead time, which can quite often be many weeks or months to get to production parts. ARC's subsidiary, 3DMT, cuts down on lead and tool time by offering prototype and short-run production parts. 3DMT has a wide array of metal and plastic 3D printers, in-house tooling and a proprietary 'Rapid MIM' process.
The other key element of getting to market quickly is reducing quoting time, which can take weeks. ARC began development in late 2013 of a proprietary online automatic quoting system, which will be rolled out across the ARC divisions starting in mid-2014.
ARC offers a holistic ecosystem of products to its customer base, and helps them get to market as quickly as possible for short and long-run production. ARC's investment and focus on technology will be a key driver of the changing manufacturing landscape of the future.
