Their capabilities include pointing and target designation; spectroscopy; use in measurement equipment; laser display; printing; biomedical applications; patient positioning; material processing; laser show; and alignment and positioning of materials such as garments, cloth, paper, wood, stone and metal.
The lasers offer a wide range of projections including adjustable line, uniform or Gaussian, single dot and crosshair. Different series offer a wide range of colours and intensities in order to maximise the visual appearance of the projection even against the darkest materials.
FLC offers a wide range of diode-pumped solid state laser products, the smallest DPSS laser heads, low-cost modules, low-power and high-power laser systems, and high-quality single longitudinal mode laser systems with different power outputs and wavelengths.
FLC's product range includes a variety of laser diode collimating and focusing optics, partly available off-the-shelf. The company also provides custom designed optical solutions for laser diode products on demand.
To complement the main line of products, FLC can also supply SMT laser diode drivers and collimator optic, line generator optic, laser diode headers and caps, and laser diode die.
The new generation laser diode system has a user-friendly design and delivers 2MW up to 300W at the fibre output. Possible wavelengths are in the range of 450-1,550nm. The operation conditions such as power, current, temperature, pulse width and frequency are clearly visible on the LCD display and can be adjusted easily. System parameters can be controlled manually, as well as via RS232 port with the software provided. The system is mounted on a 19in case, which makes it convenient to install into a standard rack or cabinet.
The GLAUrious Project, part of the EU's Horizon 2020 programme, has received €2.5 million in funding. The purpose of the project is the development and validation of a commercial laser device for first-line treatment of glaucoma. The external automatic glaucoma laser (EAGLE) operates automatically and is easy to handle but still available at a very low price.
The novel EAGLE procedure is automated, non-invasive, non-contact, painless and user-friendly, providing a one-second treatment at the press of a button. This revolutionary, cost-effective device safe for use by the world's 212,000 ophthalmologists, and could become a primary treatment for glaucoma, overcoming serious problems of eye drop non-compliance and effectively preventing disease deterioration.
The project aims to ease commercialisation of the EAGLE device by securing clinical prototype validation, streamlining commercial production, optimising component costs, disseminating to key opinion leaders and distributors, and refining commercial strategy. Validation of EAGLE will allow its commercialisation within three years of project initiation, enabling penetration of the ophthalmic market and boosting of industrial consortium partners (BEL, FLC and MCI).
