Low power, open frame, switch mode AC-DC power supplies

Artesyn is a market leader in low to medium power AC-DC power supplies, which range from 25W to 500W and are renowned for their outstanding performance, reliability and cost-effectiveness.

The latest is a 360W high-efficiency LPS360-M series of AC-DC power supplies with medical and IT equipment safety approvals. The new open frame power supply series is in the industry standard 3 x 5in (76.2 x127mm) footprint and just 1.37in (34.83mm) high.

The LPS360-M series consists of single 12, 15, 24, and 48V adjustable output models with 5V standby output at 2A and a 12V fan output at 1A. With a 90-264 Vac or 120-300 Vdc input range, the LPS360-M series also offers active power factor correction (PFC typically 0.99) and efficiency of up to 93% at full load.

The Artesyn LPS360-M series offers additional features such as protection from overvoltage, overload and thermal overload, remote sense and power fail logical control, and a digital I2C interface using the industry standard PMBus™ protocol. An optional enclosure kit (LPX200) is available.

Medical DC-DC converters

A new series of 10W DC-DC converters, the AEE10W-M series, provides OEMs with an economical solution for demanding medical applications requiring a certified supplementary or reinforced insulation system to comply with medical safety standards.

Encapsulated in a compact 2x1in industry-standard package, the AEE10W-M series offers up to 92% efficiency and covers a wide input voltage range from 9 to 75Vdc with three 2:1 input voltage ratings (9-18V, 18-36V and 36-75V). The series has fully regulated single or dual output voltage models.

The reinforced insulation system, critical for medical equipment applications, is rated for 300 Vac working voltage and 4200 Vac RMS.

Artesyn's AEE10W-M series consists of single 5 and 12V single output models and +12/-12 and +15/-15V dual output models. They offer additional features such as the low leakage current required in medical applications, protection from overvoltage, and EMI characteristics that can meet EN 55022, class A and FCC level A.

Configurable power supplies

Artesyn's microMP, iMP™, and iVS™ series are configurable standard AC-DC power supplies that can provide limitless combinations across 1-24 separate outputs with voltage ranges from 2-60 V and power from 400W to 4920W. These standard platforms allow designers to customise their requirements and simulate performance quickly.

Single output bulk power

Artesyn offers an extensive range of high-quality enclosed AC-DC power supplies with medical safety approvals. Some of the most popular models are the LCM series, which are known for providing high reliability at a very competitive cost.

With models rated for 300, 600, 1000 and 1500W output power, the LCM series can now provide for a very wide range of AC-DC embedded power requirement. Unlike many other units in the market, many models in the LCM series do not require any derating at low line.

Featuring high build quality with robust screw terminals, long life and typical full-load efficiency of greater than 91%, these power supplies are ideal for use in a variety of industrial, medical, process and digital signage/display applications. Conformal coating is available for harsh environments.

The LCM series medical safety approvals are compliant with the third edition of the ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1:2005/IEC 60601-1 medical safety standard. Their medical safety compliance extends to providing means of patient protection (MOPP) and the complete risk management files required by the third edition. Artesyn's quality management system is geared towards removing the burden and expense typically placed on the end-product designer in achieving product compliance.

The quality and reliability of the LCM series is assured through careful component selection, automated production processes, sophisticated circuit design and a digital control loop. Variable-speed 'Smart Speed' fans draw on software controls developed by Artesyn to match fan speed to the power supply's cooling requirement and load current. Slowing the fan not only saves power but also reduces wear, thus extending its life. The digital control enables a reduction in components, further increasing reliability.

Fanless, conduction-cooled

Artesyn's LCC series of fanless, fully-enclosed AC-DC power supplies offer protection up to IP65 against the ingress of dust and water, wide operating temperature range and extensive protection against fault conditions. The absence of cooling fans, which may increase dust and audible noise levels and with full medical safety approvals, makes the LCC series ideal for medical equipment. It is also applicable for high uptime and difficult to service equipment where fan failures can be costly.
