Quality and risk mitigation

UHMWPE and orthopaedic implants

Orthoplastics, a MedPlast company, supplies the world's highest quality ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) for orthopaedic implants. Because of its physical properties, UHMWPE has been the preferred bearing material for joint replacements. Advances in crosslinking have enhanced its performance.

The company provides both material and semi-finished medical devices. Direct compression moulded implantable device components, bulk material, and custom-engineered sheets and rods are available to customers with ASTM F-648 or ISO 5834 certificates, including crosslinked and Vitamin E product. Components machined to size is a growing segment for the company as orthopaedic OEMs look for quality outsourced production of UHMWPE components.

Global footprint

Eleven manufacturing facilities positioned across the US, Europe, Mexico and Asia enable the company to serve customers locally and globally.

The facilities have ISO 13485 and 9001 certifications, and Class 7 & 8 clean rooms.
